With Wilsons continued growth there was a need for a brand refresh that keeps our NS roots but allows for easier transitions into different markets.
Nova Scotia Nature Trust and Wilson Fuel Co. Limited Tee Off for Land Conservation
Halifax (August 12, 2014)— On Monday August 11th 127 golfers teed off at Glen Arbour Golf Course for the 5th annual Wilson Fuel Charity Golf Classic, in support of land conservation in Nova Scotia.
Thanks to the generosity of Wilson Fuel’s staff and volunteers, participating golfers, and the many event sponsors including TRA, Rollys, Esso, TD Canada Trust, Grant Thornton, Red Bull, Robin’s Donuts and Atlantic Signs, the tournament raised an impressive $70,000 and also raised much needed awareness for land conservation in Nova Scotia.
Wilson Fuel has previously shown its commitment to preserving Nova Scotia’s unique natural landscapes, by generously supporting several other Nature Trust initiatives, including sponsorship for the Nature Trust’s 16th annual dinner and auction in 2013, and a generous donation from the Wilson-Merriam Family Foundation in 2013.
“Partnerships such as this one with Wilson Fuel are critical to the success of the Nature Trust, not only because of the funding, but also because of the awareness piece. This partnership with Wilsons has made a significant positive impact on our organization. We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the 2014 Wilson Fuel Charity Golf Classic; it was a real pleasure to work with the Wilson team,” said Lisa Doucette-Tasse, the Nature Trust’s Fund Development Director.
2014 has been a milestone year for the Nature Trust. “This year marks the Nature Trust’s 20th anniversary and also the launch of the most significant coastal conservation campaign in Nova Scotia’s history, the 100 Wild Islands Legacy Campaign, which aims to protect, forever, a vast archipelago of over one hundred wild coastal islands. The generous support of people and organizations like Wilson Fuel is what makes our work possible,” said Nature Trust Executive Director, Bonnie Sutherland. “We would like to thank the Wilson staff who dedicated many hours of their time to organize this great event”.
The Nature Trust works with conservation partners, landowners, volunteers, and all levels of government, to protect Nova Scotia’s treasured natural legacy, including old growth forests, stunning coastal lands, critical freshwater resources and habitat for endangered species. To date, the Nature Trust has protected 65 properties, encompassing over 8300 acres, across Nova Scotia.
New mural brightens day care
For pretty much all of its existence, the west-facing wall of the building was virtually blocked from public view by the old Esso service station which stood next door.
That all changed when Wilson's Fuels purchased the service station property a few years ago and demolished it to make way for a new combination Esso retail outlet and Burger King restaurant, which included a drive-through lane between the two buildings.
That change made the wall of the day care, which was awash in a mundane monotone colour, clearly visible to passers-by, a situation the folks at Wilson's Fuels thought should be brightened up.

Wilsons Fuel Makes a Donation
Managers from Wilsons Fuel present a cheque to Jason MacLean, left, fundraising co-ordinator for the Children's Wish Foundation. Wilsons Fuel locations across Prince Edward Island held numerous fundraisers in support of the foundation. In total, $5,049.82 was raised. To date, Wilsons Fuel has raised over $8500 for the Children's Wish Foundation on Prince Edward Island. Children's Wish Foundation, along with Wilsons Fuel, is pleased that so many people helped make this initiative a success. Currently, on Prince Edward Island the foundation is working on 11 wishes to children who are dealing with a life-threatening illness.
NSCAD University students unveil mural wall at Halifax Metro Centre

The Halifax Metro Centre unveils a new, 9-foot by 30-foot hand-painted mural tonight at 6:30 pm. The mural, located on the promenade level between the Duke Street entrance and the main Ticket Atlantic box office, was created by Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (NSCAD) graduates, Noah Logan and Nathan Patterson.
